Shakti Kapoor was born on 3rd September 1958. He is notably known for playing comic and villainous roles. He has acted in over 700 films. He was born in Mumbai, grew up in New Delhi and studied in Kirori Mal College. His father used to run a tailoring business in Connaught Place. He won the Filmfare award once, for David Dhawans Raja Babu. He is married (wife: Shivangi), has a son (Siddhant) who is an assistant director and a daughter (Shraddha), who is an actress.

An online poll has rated Bollywoods popular villain and comedian Shakti Kapoor as one of the foremost gay icons in the country.He has joined the ranks with Hrithik Roshan, Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Tamil actor Suriya (of Ghajini and Singham fame), Dhanush (of Kolaveri Di fame) and Arjun Rampal; who literally got his balls held for four seconds by Shahrukh Khan in Ra.One.Kapoor being voted as a gay icon is surely amusing.Shakti Kapoor has always been known as a ladies man, which is also why he was sent into Bigg Boss with twelve women last year, commented Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar.

He further went on to say, Inspite of being an extremely versatile actor, over the years, BrandShakti Kapoor  has entertained many with formulaic characters, some of which have seemed to poke fun at gay mannerisms too. Who can forget his super famous goofy Balma act in the immensely successful Sridevi movie Chaal Baaz.Of course! And then there was also the infamous sting operation where Kapoor was caught with a girl (a planted reporter) in a Mumbai hotel. Ah Those were the days! Now, at 59, being declared a gay icon is surely coming a long way since .

Early life

Kapoor was born in Mumbai, India. He grew up in New Delhi and did his graduation from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. His father ran a tailoring business in Connaught Place, New Delhi.


Shakti Kapoor, since the start of his career in 1972 he has often been nominated for the Filmfare Award in the Best Comedian category and won once, for his performance in David Dhawan’s film, Raja Babu. During his career, he has enacted very vulgar roles in Hindi Softcore movies and was a part of many successful films such as Aasha, Khiladi, Aankhen, Judwaa and many more. Nowadays, Shakti is a regular fixture in Priyadarshan films like Hungama, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke and Malamaal Weekly and most recently Malayalam remake Bhagam Bhag. He also acted in some Bengali film of Kolkata.

Personal life

Shakti Kapoor is married to Shivangi (Padmini Kolhapures elder sister) and has two children, a son Siddhanth and a daughter Shraddha. Siddhanth Kapoor is a DJ (Disc Jockey) and also an assistant director. His daughter, Shraddha Kapoor is an actress
